Small Group Spirituality & Social Media
John Morton joined the Ithaca College and Cornell Catholic Communities in August 2016. He will help coordinate small group spirituality and assist in the formation of Christian Life Communities on campus as well as improve the communication and promotion of various events through the community’s social media pages. John is from Quincy, MA and attended Catholic school his whole life.
John graduated from Holy Cross in Worcester in 2015 with a BA in English and Political Science. Throughout his time at Holy Cross, John was heavily involved in Campus Ministry programs including a weekly faith sharing group among students and chaplains as well as a Bible study, headed by the school’s Protestant chaplain. John also attended a weekend retreat program called Manresa and led a group on this retreat in March 2015. Finally, John also participated in Holy Cross’ Spring Break Immersion program traveling to Bayview, Virginia in 2013 and Fries, Virginia in 2014.
Outside of campus ministry activities, John served as a Big Brother to a middle school student in Worcester and worked as an Outreach Volunteer in the Holy Cross Admissions Office. John also was a participant in Relay for Life three times and participated in the Holy Cross Dance Marathon which raised money for the Elizabeth Glazer Pediatric AIDS Foundation.
John is passionate about hockey, having worked with the Boston Bruins one summer. He also enjoys discussing a good book. Finally, John loves to share stories about his own faith journey and people who influenced his life in a positive way. If you are interested in meeting with John, his door will always be open.
