Michael Mangione, Catholic Deacon, was ordained to the Diaconate on June 1, 1991 after completing the formation program in the Rochester Diocese including a Master of Arts in Theology from St. Bernard’s Institute, Rochester, NY.
After ordination he served in parish ministry in Addison, Bradford, Campbell, Watkins Glen and Elmira until 2010. In 2002 he joined the staff of the Elmira Psychiatric Center as Chaplain and remained there until October of 2012. He has enjoyed sharing his faith through Rite of Christian Initiation for Adults (RCIA) and working with couples in preparation for marriage (Pre-Cana and FOCCUS) as well as sacramental life. Deacon Mike, as he is better known, is available anytime to anyone who has questions of faith or simply needs a conversation. He resides with his wife, their dog and two black cats on Hanshaw Road in Cayuga Heights. He is the father of three and has nine grandchildren, ranging in age from nine to twenty-two.
